Congratulations to you all xxx
Hi there and congratulations to you all on the
birth of your baby girl. I don't know if you will
remember me but i e mailed you a while ago and
told you about my two girls Leah & Lacey both was
born with CDH. My youngest Lacey (8 months)has
just had her second op on her hip as it wasn't
sucessfull the first time! She has got a bright
pink spica on now bless her, her consultant
dosen't seem to think the spica is going to work
as she has very small bones, but he cannot go on
and do the next step op untill she is about 18
months old, where he will have to split her thigh
bone!Have you heard of this happening before from
anyone? Her consultant told us she is only the
second child in 25 years that open reduction
hasn't worked! We have had a very difficult time
but like many others we plod on. i said i would
post you some pictures before, and i never got
round to it but i will do shortly. you will have
plenty to be doing now with your new little
bundle of love! Can i ask you has Cadence had her
hips scaned yet and if so is all well? I do hope
so i have had my fingers crossed for you. i know
how difficult it is to have both girls born with
it and i wouldn't wish it on anyone. Anyway i
will post you some more later on, in the mean
time best wishes to you all, and we wish you all
a very merry christmas & Happy new year
Take Care

Daughter with Shallow Hip
Hi there,
I've just found your site and think it's a
wonderful idea. I'm 38 years old and had CDH.
I needed the 'big op' where by the socket was
cleaned and hip put in place, and then the thigh
bone bit (I still have the metal plate in my
thigh to this day). I was 2 years old when I
had my operation and is was described
a 'pioneering' at the time. I have now had 3
children (2 boys and 1 girl) all of whom were
large babies (9lb 15, 10lb 5 and 11lb 3). The
boys were fine - my daughter is currently being
treated for a shallow hip socket which I hope
will not lead to surgery. Reading your site has
helped me understand what may (or may not)
happen next so half my battle will be won when
talking with her consultant next month. Good
luck to you, and your daughters!
All the best, Laura
